Data & AI Systems Engineering (วิศวกรรมข้อมูลและปัญญาประดิษฐ์เชิงระบบ)
I am Kullawadee Somboonviwat. I currently serve as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Kasetsart University Sriracha Campus, Thailand. I earned my Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Information and Communication Engineering from the University of Tokyo, and my B.Eng. in Computer Engineering (1st Class Hons.) from KMITL.
My research philosophy bridges the gap between digital computation and the physical world. Rather than focusing on “pure” theoretical AI, I specialize in engineering Advanced Data & AI Systems that are mathematically robust, constrained by physical laws, and capable of real-world deployment.
Research Focus
My work is deeply interdisciplinary, applying AI & advanced data engineering to complex physical and biological environments:
- Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) & Energy: Developing Physics-Guided Deep Learning and time-series clustering (e.g., VAEs, TimeGPT) for robust energy analysis, PV-battery nanogrids, and microgrid control.
- Computational Bio-Engineering: Applying scalable data engineering and software engineering methodologies to bioinformatics, particularly in the development of tools to help uncovering the impact of small RNAs (piRNAs/miRNAs) on immune modulation.
- Scalable Data Infrastructure & Edge AI: Architecting full-stack systems, massive dataset pipelines, and Edge Computing solutions (e.g., AI forecasting on Raspberry Pi) for public infrastructure and industrial applications.
